Hey everyone! Welcome back to another post on What are you up to during the lockdown and welcome to the 4th edition of Around the World: Virtual Tour!! In this edition we’ll be travelling to one of the most culturally diverse countries: India!!
Before we begin lets see a quick overview of the country. India is a country in South Asia with the second largest population in the world. It is also the most populous democracy in the world. India is a unique country as it’s one of the few countries that are a peninsula. A peninsula is a land piece that is surrounded by water on 3 sides. The capital of India is New Delhi and the currency is the Rupee. The current prime minister is Narendra Modi and the current president is Ram Nath Kovind.
As we begin our tour, let’s take a brief look at the places we’ll be visiting. We’ll be visiting a total of 5 cities in India. New Delhi, Agra, Bangalore, Goa and Mumbai.
New Delhi is the capital city of India and is home to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House and Supreme Court. New Delhi is also famous for monuments such as the Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Red fort and the famous India Gate.
Agra is a beautiful city on the banks of river Yamuna which is famous for one of the Wonders of the World: the Taj Mahal! Agra is also home to the Agra fort and is a must visit city if you happen to visit India!
Bangalore and Mysore
Bangalore also known as the Garden city of India, is famously known as the Silicon Valley of India. Bangalore along with Mysore, are home to some of the most beautiful tourist locations such as the Brindavan Garden, Mysore Palace, Bannerghatta National Park and Vidhan Soudha.
Goa, previously a Portuguese colony, is one of the most famous vacation spots for most Indians and tourists alike. Goa with it’s beautiful coastline and beaches makes it a wonderful tourist location.
Mumbai is one of the most populated cities in the world. Formerly known as Bombay, Mumbai boasts of stunning monuments such as the Elephanta and Ajanta caves, The Gateway of India, Beaches such as the Juhu Beach and a beautiful bridge: the Bandra Worli Sea Link.
